Gardening for Wildlife/Wildkids

Website includes information for teachers and activities for Key Stage 1,2 & 3. Provides specific ideas to support the curriculum and out of school clubs.

Countryside Council for Wales

Has lots of information, worksheets and resources for using the outdoors for learning.  Specific teachers packs to download.

Royal Horticultural Society

Offers schools membership benefits e.g.  Newsletters, priority booking at RHS gardens, INSET days, Question and answer/advice,  free seed distribution, ‘The Garden’ magazine, Garden angels (RHS member that adopts a school to give help and advice).  Website has advisory leaflets available on line.

Forest Education Initiative

The educational arm of the Forestry Commission.  Website offers learning resources for specific outdoor activities.  Promotion of  Forest Schools in Monmouthshire has it's own coordinator Rachel Smith (01291 627412)

HDRA

Organization aimed at amateur organic gardeners.  Useful website with lots of information on planning, making and planting a schools garden. Contains information on Monmouthshire schools which are already members and gives resume of what they have achieved in their grounds.  Lots of ‘How To’ leaflets to download.  Schools membership available enabling specific advice to be given, as well as entry to Fun Zone on website containing quizzes and games, recipes etc.

Gwent Wildlife Trust

Educational opportunities to visit at Silent Valley e.g. Trails, information and forest school activities.  Advice and expertise offered if project has conservational value.

Royal Society for the Protection of Birds
